Counter Strike Global Offensive (CSGO) Tips And Tricks

I have been apart of the Counter-Strike Global Offensive (CSGO) community for almost 2 months now. This game took me a while and a lot of practice to get used to as it is extremely different compared to other FPS games such as call of duty and modern warfare. It, however, is a very tactical game where you can't do your own thing and have to communicate. Due to its competitive and tactical nature, which can be hard for players to learn at first, I have made a list of tips and tricks that will help you become a better player.

Tip One Communication And Teamwork

In CSGO communication is vital and is needed no matter what team you are on. As a counter-terrorist, you must communicate with your fellow players to ensure you cover a sufficient space (all the bomb sites and paths to them) and also communicate where the enemy players are. If you are guarding bombsite A, and the terrorist team is attacking it, you must tell your team this so they can assist you. Similarly, if you are on the terrorist team, you must communicate in order to decide which bombsite to attack, how many people are defending it and if the counter-terrorist team is defusing the bomb. You will also need to communicate where the bomb is dropped if you happen to drop it. This is by far the most important tip as the game is pure strategy.

Tip Two Aim For The Head

CSGO is a semi-realistic game where guns weigh more and headshots are almost instant kills with most guns. Headshots are pretty difficult to pull off so I advise checking out my tutorial on how to make a custom crosshair (link at the bottom of the article.) Even if you don't have a custom crosshair the same rules apply. At a long distance try crouching (With the control key) this allows you to get a very accurate shot. If you are at a close range try standing still or walking as this will greatly improve your recoil control and accuracy. Some guns you can get away with moving and shooting (such as the P90) as it is a short-range spray type gun.

Tip Three Use Grenades Effectively 

Grenades can give you a great upper hand in combat if used effectively. Firstly there are a few types of grenades: Fire grenades, Smoke grenades, Flashbangs, Decoys and High explosives. All grenades are good and can be deployed in a lot of different circumstances. Most of the time, however, you will need a bit of space between you and the target in order for these to work effectively. Firstly, I will go over the smoke grenade. The smoke grenade can be used as defense or offense and is used to limit the opponents' line of site. If you are engaged in a combat situation and you need to escape you can use a smoke bomb to cover the area you are in or the area your opponent is in so you can escape. The smoke grenade can also be used as a defense/offensive weapon by covering certain locations where the enemies are pushing from. For example, entrances to bomb sites, the bomb once planted and to flank around the enemies and kill them from behind. The flashbang can be used for a multiple of different situations. One used is to rush an enemy. Simply through it in front of them or around the corner into them and then rush them with a submachine gun. If you use this method you will need to give it a good through and act quickly. Similarly to the smoke grenade, you can also use it to escape or change position. Fire grenades are the most expensive grenades but also very helpful. These grenades are used to limit enemy movement (for example blocking paths) and also thrown on the bomb to prevent defusing. Decoy grenades are used to confuse the opponents. As a terrorist you can through a decoy grenade on the route to the opposite direction you're going, as a counter-terrorist you can through a decoy grenade to an area you can't defend. You can also use it to escape by simulating gunfire in the area you wish to flee from. High explosives are pretty self-explanatory. They are used to deal damage and force opponents back.

Tip Four Manners 

Manners cost nothing and they are very much appreciated in CSGO. You need to use them even when others don't and be supportive. If a player does bad sad "unlucky" or something supportive and if they do well say "well played". This keeps everyone happy and makes the CSGO community a lot more fun to be in.

Picking the right gun

All the guns in Counter strike can be used effectively given the right circumstances and ability. For example, if you are good at aiming, a pistol would suit you well as you can pull off some amazing head shots. But you have to be smart. Many people do rounds called "ECO" rounds as they buy only cheap guns. These are effective if you are saving for a particular gun (eg an AWP) or if you purposely use a gun that gives a good kill reward. Another thing to take into consideration when buying a gun is how effective it will be on that map. If it is a small map with lots of tunnels (eg office) you could use a shotgun. If its a long map (eg dust) an Assult rifle or Sniper would be appropriate. Another recommendation is to stick to one gun and master it as this will help a lot. Finally, you should master a gun of each section so that no matter what map or situation you will be golden and if the gun you master is either only terrorist or counter-terrorist, make sure you master one of each team.

Recommended weapons to master:

Ak47 (for the terrorist team)

M4A4 or M4A1-S (for counter terrorist)

Awp (for both teams as it is over powered if you can aim)
